This technical blueprint deconstructs the Swan-Neck Rear Wing, a pinnacle of modern aerodynamic packaging. By mounting the uprights to the top surface of the foil, the critical low-pressure area on the underside remains undisturbed by aerodynamic "shading."
Following the research of Joseph Katz in Race Car Aerodynamics, this piece visualizes the laminar flow attachment and the pressure differential created across the wing’s chord. It highlights the strategic use of a Gurney Flap to enhance downforce without a significant drag penalty. This is a study of air as a high-velocity fluid, essential for the engineer who knows that the most important part of a wing is the space beneath it.
